Commercial Remodeling Project
History Museum at the Castle
Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit
Some years ago, in preparation for the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit at the History Museum at the Castle, Appleton, WI, Fox River Remodeling Co. LLC was hired to remodel the 3500 square foot second floor display room with 15 ft. arched ceilings. We were very excited to do this project, to be part of something big! The room was large and so was the work involved. This project included: (1)Removing a wall between the display room and the museum's store with all necessary finish work. (2)Repairing areas of the hardwood floors. (3)Removing years of old slopped paint on the floors and trim. (4)Removing the reception area from the lobby. (5) reusing some of the reception area cabinets and reinstalling those cabinets in the museum's store. (6) Repairing antique woodwork such as the large wooden grilles of the heating systems air intakes. (7)Removing decals, patching holes and repairing all the walls including skim coating over painted designs/pictures and texturing to match. (8)Construct a large custom radiator cover to protect children from getting to close to the hot surface of the cast iron radiator. Designed to blend well with this exhibit. (9)Painting all walls and ceilings by spraying 2 coats of dark bronze paint, being careful to protect and cover all floors, trim and the ceilings vast track lighting system. Not to mention doing all of this paint spraying in a Museum, along with the sensitive fire protection/warning system. The project was to be completed only during the Museum's open hours and within one week. The deadline had to be met for the next steps which included setting up the Da Vinci exhibits and displays, a grand opening event and then opening up for the public. The project was started and completed on time! There are many before, during and after photo's in the slideshow below. Some photo's were taken before the paint even dried and you can even see the shiny streaks, it's all part of the process. Enjoy!
