Professional tradesmen that do the "fix-it" stuff.
Here's how and why, along with a few cautions.
Please read!
Generally a handyman is a low status, semi-skilled labor job. It is less prestigious and professional than a Plumber, Electrician, or Carpenter.
Plumbers, Electricians, and Carpenters are usually connected and have their small group associations. They must be licensed but not all are. Being licensed is something to be proud of, and requires proper insurances and skill. They all charge usually less or similarly per hour than a low skilled "professional" handyman franchise business. Most give free estimates, proposals, or contracts. You see what you're paying for, and what you are getting before you sign, or owe for anything. That is key for you to look for when getting estimate(s). Get more than one estimate, you are interviewing proper candidates to work on your property or investment. There are scam artists out to take advantage of the unsuspecting buyer, and can cause considerable damage in many ways. Don't hire because of the sympathy or charity factor. If someone looks like they need the work, there is probably a reason for that. Charity and sympathy are good things, but in the proper places!
Fox River Remodeling Co. is a carpentry business, a licensed Builder and Remodeler. Probably considered "old school" because of the vast variety of services offered. Highly skilled in everything associated with building construction, remodeling and rebuilding, service and repair. We offer the fix-it stuff as a service to you, and it provides great fill-in work for us. The fix-it stuff, or handyman work is usually the things that need to be done, most likely old lists of odd jobs. Things you don't have time or patience to do, are not skilled to do, or would just be too costly to do yourself because of all the necessary tools and variety of parts/materials that are needed for small jobs or task(s). Most franchise Handyman businesses charge an arm and a leg by the hour and there is no free estimate. There is a high turnover of the laborers they hire. Most are usually not very skilled, if they were, they would be in a trade somewhere. The person that arrives from a franchise handyman business, likely will not be the same person who'll come back the next time you call. It might not be the same person who answered your call if they even remember who you are. Those businesses change hands/ownership every few years. Who then will warranty the workmanship, or products? This will cost you much in the end, so please beware of what or who you hire.
Always "trust your gut" when you hire a contractor. I hear this "my gut told me not to..." with much sorrow after the fact, way too often.
I believe that if we perform well for you with the little stuff, you'll call us in for the big stuff also, That's good reason for us to do a bang up job for you the first time! Call 920-475-4100 for your free estimate, and ask for Kevin.
